Hon. James Agalga is a Ghanaian lawyer, legislator and public servant serving as the Member of Parliament for Builsa North Constituency in the Upper East Region. He first entered Parliament in January 2013 and is serving his fourth consecutive term on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. In August 2026, he assumed office as Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Ghana’s Parliament.

Born in Chuchuliga, James Agalga is a lawyer by profession. He holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, a professional legal qualification from the Ghana School of Law, an MA in Conflict, Peace and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, and an LLM from the University of Ghana.
His legal career has included work at the Centre for Public Interest Law and NDEZEB Law Consult, as well as service as Managing Partner of Law Temple.
